Finding Our Way event May 1st at the Camden Opera House
The fifth annual Finding Our Way live storytelling event to benefit Wayfinder Schools will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 1, at the Camden Opera House.
This year’s event features 12 Maine storytellers, including three Wayfinder graduates, who will share funny, poignant, and heartfelt “moth-style” stories live from the stage.
This year’s speakers include teacher Cathy Ames; restaurateur, mixologist, and writer Ben Curtis; filmmaker Josh Gerritsen; actor, teacher and Lego master Ryan Jackson; Counter/Current Collective Theater Company founders Courtney Hayes and John Jurcheck; suicide prevention expert and mushroom explorer Greg Marley; MaineWorks founder Margo Walsh; active retiree Joan Welsh; and Wayfinder grads McKayla Olsen, Kyleigh Philbrook, and Kenzie Phifer. Actor, writer, and producer Andrea Itkin will serve as MC for the show.
Finding Our Way is sponsored by R.M. Davis, Bangor Savings Bank, Down East Magazine, Machias Savings Bank, Clark Insurance, and Gusco Consulting, with additional support from the Lord Camden Inn, American Flatbread, Bleecker & Greer, and Atlantic Baking Co. Tickets are $30 and include access to a pre-show mocktail hour beginning at 5:30. All proceeds benefit Wayfinder Schools, an alternative high school serving more than 75 Maine youth who need a second chance at high school graduation.
